Applying to the UNO Arts Administration program is a two-step process:
STEP 1: Applying to the Graduate School
In order to be admitted to the Graduate School, students must file the online application to the Graduate School and submit official transcripts and GRE or GMAT scores (and TOEFL scores for International applicants) to the Office of Admissions. You can find more detailed instructions within the Grad School website.
Important application tips:
- GRE or GMAT official scores are to be sent to the to the Office of Admissions. You must list UNO as a destination at the time you take your preferred test. If you have not taken either test we suggest you must schedule your preferred test at your earliest convenience.
- Undergraduate and any post-graduate official transcripts should be sent directly to the Office of Admissions.
- International Students only: Official results of your TOEFL should be sent directly to the Office of Admissions. To arrange for the TOEFL: see the section “Information for International Students” further along in this document.
Application Fee and Deadlines: A one-time non-refundable application fee of $50 is required the first time you apply for admission to the Graduate School. Your application is not processed until this fee is paid.
An additional non-refundable late fee of $30 (total $80) will be assessed for all applications received in the graduate admissions office after the following priority dates. Updated 7/26/10

University of New Orleans Graduate School Minimum Requirements
Prospective students must have at least the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- A composite score of 300 (Updated scoring for tests taken after August 2011) on the GRE OR a minimum composite score of 400 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) Although the writing score is not considered for University admittance, it is evaluated for admittance to the program.
- An undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 and 3.0 for post-baccalaureate work on a 4.0 scale.
- Satisfactory academic standing at the last college or university attended.
Applicants who are unable to supply complete credentials because they are currently enrolled in a university program may be granted provisional admission provided all records, except for the semester in progress, have been submitted. In such cases complete credentials must be received not later than 30 days after the first day of classes in the fall and spring semester and not later than 15 days after the first day of classes in the summer session, or admission may be canceled.
STEP 2: Applying to the Degree Program
- Complete and send your Arts Administration Application to the Arts Administration Office.
- Include your resume detailing business, academic and arts-related experience.
- Include a one page Statement of Purpose describing why you are pursuing a degree in Arts Administration.
- Arrange for three (3) Letters of Recommendation to be sent directly to the Arts Administration office. Letters should be sent directly from the authors (not handled by applicants) to our program office. Letters should be written by professors, employers, etc. who are well acquainted with your work and abilities and not close personal friends or relatives.
- Completed UNO Graduate Assistant Application (optional, but highly recommended that this form is submitted with your application if you need financial assistance ).
- Completed UNO Graduate Scholarship Application (optional, but highly recommended that this form is submitted with your application if you need financial assistance ).
International Students
UNO currently hosts hundreds of international students, faculty and staff from approximately 90 countries. The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) provides comprehensive immigration advising, programming and support services.
Proficiency in the English language is vital to the academic success of international students. All students whose native language is not English are required to submit an acceptable Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) composite score of at least 79-80 on the iBT (internet based), or 213 (computer-based), or 550 (paper-based). A Statement of Financial Support must also be submitted to the Office of Admissions, indicating financial ability to remain at the University long enough to complete degree requirements. Those requiring a student visa may not be admitted as on probation and may not normally be admitted provisionally.
Further testing will be given to verify English competency when the student arrives on campus. In certain cases applicants with superior academic credentials who do not meet the minimum TOEFL requirement may be considered for admission into the Intensive English Language program before pursuing a degree.
It is mandatory that all international students participate in the student medical insurance program. Fees for this insurance will be assessed at registration. This requirement may be waived if the student can show proof of insurance that can be applied internationally.
If you have attended college in a foreign country, you must have the application and records on file 90 days prior to registration to be considered for admission. Academic records required are (1) official certified transcripts of each year of college or university work (2) certified English translation of each year of college or university work. Each transcript should include the dates of attendance, titles of courses, credits earned, detailed marks, and an explanation of the marks or grading system used. An appropriate school or government official must authenticate these records as accurate. The records must be mailed directly to the admissions office from the school. No photocopies will be accepted as official records.
