Financial Aid

To be considered for financial aid you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available for completion online at www.fafsa.ed.gov beginning January 1st of each year. You are encouraged to apply early! By submitting the FAFSA, the Federal Processing Center will process your application, then forward your eligibility information to the UNO Office of Student Financial Aid. You will need to include the UNO Title IV School Code 002015 on your FAFSA. Once our Office of Student Financial Aid receive your information, they will email you a confirmation of your Financial Aid Award or request any additional information if needed, so please check your UNO email address regularly. You may contact our Office of Student Financial Aid at (504) 280-6603 for further details.

Selective Service Registration

Louisiana State law stipulates that we must confirm the Selective Service registration of all draft eligible males (generally between the ages of 18 and 25, U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens) before we permit students to enroll. We will contact Selective Service for this verification. However, if Selective Service cannot confirm your draft registration, we will ask you to provide us with a copy of your draft card or, if you have been in the Service, a copy of your discharge papers. If you have been excused from the draft, you should send the Office of Financial Aid proof that you have been excused.

Immunization

Louisiana law requires new students to provide proof of immunization against measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, and tetanus. If you were born before 1957 you need only satisfy the diphtheria-tetanus requirement. This information must be submitted to our Office of Student Health Services before you register for classes. Student Health Services, (504) 280-6387, will contact you regarding this requirement once you are admitted.

Student Housing

Pontchartrain Hall North and South are residence halls, featuring 4 bedroom and 2 bedroom & 1 bath Suite Style living. Privateer Place Apartments are also located on campus. Contact the Office of Student Housing at (504) 280-6585 or their website http://housing.uno.edu for more details and an application for on-campus housing.

Disabled Students

Federal law prohibits us from making pre-admission inquiry about learning or other disabilities. Any information received regarding learning or other disabilities will not adversely affect any admission decision. If you require special services because of your disability you should notify the Office of Disability Services at (504) 280-6222. This voluntary self-identification allows UNO to prepare appropriate support services to facilitate your learning. This information will be kept in strict confidence. This and all publications of the University of New Orleans are available in alternate media for persons with disabilities.

Non-U.S. Citizens

Please submit a photocopy of both sides of your Alien Registration Card (Form I-551) if you are a permanent resident alien.
If you are already in the U.S. and you hold another type of visa, please submit a photocopy of your Arrival-Departure Record (Form I-94) and passport visa stamp.

International Students

The following academic records are required:
  • official certified transcripts of each year of secondary school/college or university work
  • certified English translation of each year of secondary school/college or university work

Each transcript should include the dates of attendance, titles of courses, credits earned, detailed marks, and an explanation of the marks or grading system used. These records must be authenticated as accurate by an appropriate school or government official. The records must be mailed directly to this office from the school. No photocopies will be accepted. TOEFL scores are required if you are from a non-English speaking country. Please contact the Educational Testing Service, Princeton, NY 08540 for a TOEFL application form. The I-20 form is not issued until all financial documents have been received and you are admitted.

Got jabs?

We'll need your immunization info before you matriculate at UNO. Check with Student Health Services to make sure you're up to date. And don't fret -- needles are a lot smaller than they used to be!
