Bill Sharpton, Ph.D.

Interim Provost and Vice President of
Academic Affairs

William Sharpton serves as the Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of New Orleans. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Special Education from Georgia State University. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Sharpton held the position of Associate Provost since 2012 and Associate Dean in the College of Education and Human Development from 2005-2012. He holds an academic appointment in the Department of Special Education and Habilitative Services and teaches graduate level courses in teacher education. Dr. Sharpton has served as the Principal Investigator for numerous research, personnel preparation, and systems improvement grants totaling over $20 million. His research interests include inclusive education, transition services for young adults with disabilities and improving instructional effectiveness.
