Virginia Kock Professorship in Music

Robin Holtz Williams, Ph.D., is the Chair of the Department of Music at the University of New Orleans and currently holds the Virginia Kock Endowed Professorship. Dr. Williams is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans (MASNO). Dr. Williams earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and then studied at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York where she earned Master and Doctorate degrees in Piano Performance. Since joining the UNO faculty in 1990, Dr. Williams has been a frequent solo and chamber musician in New Orleans and the surrounding region, and has also performed across the country and in Costa Rica. In addition to teaching and performing, she maintains an active schedule as an adjudicator. In the summer 2006, Dr. Williams was a competition judge for the 18th New Orleans International Piano Competition. Dr. Williams has released two solo piano CDs since 2004. One of these CDs, A Piano in the House: Music for Hearth and Home has been rebroadcast over New Orleans classical radio station, WWNO-89.9 FM and has received regular airplay on Pandora Internet Radio since March 2012. She also recently collaborated with singer, Trish Foti Genco on the CD, LOVED, which was released in February 2012. In October, 2012 she appeared in several concert venues with Musaica, a chamber music organization affiliated with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
