Sports & Recreation

University athletics enhance the overall student experience, and UNO offers a broad array of competitive and recreational athletic programs to ensure that students have every opportunity to be involved.

UNO has a long history of NCAA athletics; currently, the UNO Privateers are transitioning from Division I to Division II. This will allow us to offer competitive athletic opportunities to more students while keeping the focus on sport as an enriching component of a university education.

We also offer club and intramural sports, as well as multiple opportunities for recreational events that focus on having fun in an athletic environment. And our state-of-the-art fitness center will keep you fit year round!

In addition to UNO offerings, New Orleans features professional teams playing year round.  From the World Champion New Orleans Saints to the minor league soccer New Orleans Jesters, there is never downtime for athletics in New Orleans.
