Electrical Engineering (B.S.)

Electrical Engineering (B.S.)

  • The Department of Electrical Engineering offers concentrations in Computer Engineering & Electrical Engineering.
  • Our mission is to provide affordable, quality undergraduate and graduate education in the areas of Electrical & Computer Engineering.

At UNO, our electrical engineering program combines advanced technologies with everyday practicalities. Follow your interest and fascination for modern-world technology while preparing for careers in expanding industries such as energy, communications, controls, microprocessors, electronics design, and information technology.

Your degree will qualify you for an industrial career, professional school, or graduate programs in electrical engineering and computer engineering. At UNO, our electrical engineering program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) which will increase your chances of higher pay, greater job selection, and quicker advancement in the industry.

UNO’s degree in electrical engineering offers two paths to bring a specialized focus to your course of study. A concentration in computer engineering immerses in the design of computers, computer system components, and microcontrolers. If your interests lean more towards power systems, controls, communications, and audio technologies, then you can follow the main electrical engineering path. Both paths are excellent choices if you are interested in robotics and electronics design.

Whichever path you choose, you will be expected to complete a hands-on, project-based curriculum that not only includes a comprehensive selection of science, mathematics, and computer-related courses, but also access to state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories solely for the research and instruction of microprocessing, energy conversion, optics, and electrical and electronics circuits.

As an electrical engineering graduate from UNO, you will be an ideal candidate for any number for graduate schools or employment in rapidly expanding industries. You will be given the knowledge and skills to develop tomorrow’s technologies.
