Accounting (B.S.)

Professional, extensive, career-oriented -- UNO’s highly recognized accounting program leads graduates to success in passing the certified public accountant exam; entrance into graduate and professional programs; and career placement. Our program will not only expose you to a wide range of issues in the reporting and interpretation of financial information in our courses, but also
in internships.

Once in the program, you’ll receive a thorough grounding in the accounting profession, including financial, managerial, tax, assurance, and consulting. Furthermore, programs in the accounting program are offered to supplement your degree. The CPA Preparation Program (Pre-CPA) is also offered for students in different disciplines to obtain the necessary course work to qualify to take the CPA exam. You may also earn a certificate from the Internal Auditing Endorsed Program (IAEP), which is only offered in select universities in the country.

To expand your practical experience even further, you will be able to apply to internships to obtain real world experience working 150 hours in a professional environment that could earn you three hours of college credit and a foot in the door to possible full-time employment. Graduates have earned positions in numerous accounting and business firms.

Once you have completed the accounting program, there are many opportunities. You can expect to find a place at UNO's graduate accounting or tax program, you can find a place within one of the many graduate or professional schools, or you will have the skills to secure employment in auditing, consulting, or income tax services to non-profit organizations, businesses, and individuals.
